A male and a female partner can register their marriage in Sri Lanka, if:
 

• The partners are not married to any other person at the time of registration
• The partners are adults (above 18)

Religion is no bar to a person getting married in Sri Lanka. Marriage has to be registered within the Area of the Divisional Secretariat's Office or the Marriage Registrar and within the Area where the person is temporarily residing.
